Gunite
Custom-shaped. Most durable. 25 to 50 year lifespan with proper resurfacing. Higher upfront cost but holds value and resists damage from soil shift.

Gunite is the gold standard for high-end pools in Louisiana. Strong, customizable, and built to last decades in our climate.
Gunite is a mix of cement, sand, and water sprayed at high pressure over a steel rebar frame. Once it cures, you've got a solid concrete shell that takes any shape you can design. It's the structural choice for custom pools because the shell is poured in place, not pre-formed in a factory like fiberglass.
In Louisiana, gunite handles our shifting clay soil better than vinyl liner pools and gives you design freedom that fiberglass can't match.

Pre-shaped shells dropped into the dig. Faster install but limited to stock shapes. Can pop or shift if the surrounding soil isn't compacted right.
Cheapest upfront. Liner needs replacement every 7 to 10 years. Susceptible to tears, and the structure underneath is less forgiving with our soil.
For a luxury build that's going to be part of the property for the long term, gunite is the only real choice.
The gunite stage is where bad pool builders get exposed. The thickness of the shell, the rebar pattern, the cure time — all of it matters and all of it is easy to skip on if no one's watching.
We use schedule-40 steel rebar tied in a tight grid, spray the gunite to a minimum of 10 inches at the floor and 8 inches on the walls, and cure it slowly with water for at least 7 days before any finish goes on. That's not the fastest way to do it. It's the right way.
